The aim of the course is to introduce the theoretical and practical foundations of CAD systems. The exercises are related to the fields of geometry and architectural history, and present two-dimensional constructions and three-dimensional modelling techniques and shapes that are often used in architecture, practicing the reconstruction of three-dimensional shapes based on their two-dimensional projections. In addition, the subject provides insight into the effective use of IT tools and the representation of functions and data in the context of engineering problem solving and algorithmic thinking.

3D Modeling • The course deals with typical architectural shapes, general modelling concepts and techniques, texture, lighting and rendering. In the second part of the semester students work autonomously (with occasional one-on-one consultations) on a model of their choice. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD / 3D modeling is advisable.
